One of the best things about creature-collecting games is that there's always something new to discover, and there’s already a lot in Aniimo just a month after its launch. October brings a plethora of new things to Aniimo, and as someone who’s explored everything Part 1 of Season 1 has to offer, I’m more than ready to dive in.
Season 1: Departure With the Wind Part 2 arrives on October 29, and brings a new region, dozens of new Aniimo, new stories, competitive modes, and seasonal events. If you've been looking for an excuse to return to Idyll, here are ten reasons to get excited about what's coming.
8 A New Region to Explore
Introducing the Whisperwake Isles
The Breezy Plains is a big area, but it’s due for an expansion. Part 2’s update introduces the Whisperwake Isles, which includes four new areas: Crescent Bay, Wildwater Gorge, Rosy Mirelands, and Cloudreach Falls. As with Part 1, each of these areas will include a mixture of unique Aniimo and regional variants of familiar faces.
Unlocking the region isn’t automatic, and you’ll have to complete some requirements before getting access. You'll need to reach Level 55, become a Grade I Trailblazer, and complete the story quest A Tale of Tide and Song to unlock the region. That gives you a few things to work towards if you haven't reached the required progression yet.
7 51 New Aniimo
Expand Your Collection
The best thing about the update for many will be the new Aniimo. Whisperwake Isles is introducing 32 new species, with a total of 51 new Aniimo. Each new species will have the coveted Prismana form and various other regional forms just like the Aniimo that came before.
Collecting creatures is the bread and butter of games like this, and more is definitely more here. Part 1 had a lot of Aniimo to collect, and they stand out because of how much personality they have when interacting with each other and the world around them. The new Aniimo will likely be the same, and I’m excited to encounter more of them with charming personalities and stories.
6 New Prismana Forms
Some Limited and Some Permanent Additions
Prismana are the ultimate tier of Aniimo, and so more of them are welcome. Part 2 introduces four new regional Prismana Forms: Whirlbite, Gachapus, Jabster, and Sugartini. Prismana Aniimo can be found when nurturing the Vein in different regions, or they can be hatched with Prismana eggs. There are also four new seasonal Prismana Aniimo: Jeburst, Glameep, Pouchwisp, and Royalby. The seasonal Prismana Aniimo will only be available for this season, so it'll be a good idea to prioritize those before they're gone.
Nurturing the Vein can become very expensive, as the resource required to do so is pretty rare. It’s best to do so during Vein Abundance events, which rotate through the regions. The events give you +50% on events, making your Vein Essence go further. The update also introduces Vein Abundance events featuring rotating limited Prismana Aniimo.
5 New Story Quests
Bring on the Lore and Story
I thought the story from Part 1 was fine but wasn’t exceptional. That said, I thought that some of the side quests were genuinely captivating, particularly the story of Pawney and Helmut and the Helmwhelp and their father on the beach. Part 2 will add three new major story quests, all with an ocean theme rather than the flower and fragrance theme from Part 1.
A strong story isn’t necessarily a must-have for a game like this, but it’s a good way to encourage exploration and to adjust to the features and mechanics. The new stories will go a long way to introduce us to the new areas, and hopefully there'll be more charming Aniimo stories.
4 Aniimo Go
A New Mode of Play
Racing games have always been popular, and now the racetrack has come to Aniimo! Aniimo Go is a seasonal event that'll run from November 11-December 10. There will be a new track added every two weeks, for three tracks in total. The tracks will likely be placed strategically around the Breezy Plains, and give you plenty of opportunities to win rewards and just have a good time.
Participation in Aniimo Go requires getting your Pathfinder to level 40, which isn't too difficult. If you begin playing Aniimo at the very start of the Part 2 season, you should be able to hit the level requirement when Aniimo Go begins. It's likely to be an alternate way to use your Aniimo, opening them to new possibilities.
3 Operation: Egg Heist Changes
A New Team Mode
Operation: Egg Heist has been a controversial experience for many because of poor team play, especially in Chaos mode where you get what you take rather than the loot being distributed across the team. This has been frustrating because Chaos mode has by far the best rewards, but a lot of players have become victims of an individualist mentality rather than helping each other out, which just makes it a frustrating experience.
Operation: Egg Heist is introducing a team mode where players are sorted into three teams. The teams will go up against each other in the ruins, and the winning team members will get a Giga-egg. The changes to Egg Heist will make it more fair and encourage players to actually assist their teammates rather than leaving them in the dust. It'll be in testing, so some refinements based on feedback can be expected.
2 Increased Level Cap
Get Gud
New training will become available with the update, increasing that pesky level cap. At level 60, Trailblazer II and Trailblazer III challenges will become available, which will respectively increase the cap to 65 and 70. The new level cap means a stronger Pathfinder, but also stronger Aniimo, letting you take on new challenges and explore new places.
With a new level cap comes new Passive Talents and Active Skills. It's easy to get hooked on upgrading your Aniimo, but your Pathfinder also deserves some love, and a lot of the passives and actives are genuinely useful for both exploration and combat.
1 Halloween Events and Home Customization
A New Seasonal Event with Decor
I've really been enjoying Aniimo's RV and home system. There are a lot of great customization options, and a lot of the products you can make are appealing in that cozy way. With the new update comes a new festival that's Halloween themed, with a Candy House. The event will run until December 9, and run in much the same way where you can earn Halloween Candy as currency to buy new items.
The two new magical crops are Magic Pumpkin and Memoryglow Fruit, while the Waxing Moon Pepper and Moondew Radish will be allocated alongside the usual crops and be bought with Homestead Coins. To participate in the Night Parade, you have to reach at least Student I for Pathfinder training.
