In One Piece, fans have made the observation that many of the most important figures in the world, whether they are on the side of the pirates or the World Government, tend to use swords as their main method of fighting. As such, due to this, some of the most powerful figures in the world are considered swordsmen.
Over the course of the series, fans have been introduced to strong swordsmen from every era, from Roger to Shanks. However, one group of people who don't get as much attention are those powerhouses who use weapons different from traditional swords in One Piece, so let's break down the strongest characters who fit into this group.
8 Sabo Uses A Very Unorthodox Weapon
Affiliation: Revolutionary Army
One of the higher-ranking members of the Revolutionary Army is Sabo, who has taken over his brother Ace's mantle of the Flame Emperor due to his inheritance of the Mera Mera no Mi Devil Fruit. This fruit grants him immense strength and variety in battle, but it is far from the only reason why he is considered to be so dangerous.
Sabo also happens to be a masterful user of Armament and Observation Haki, particularly with the former. With it, he carries a steel pipe with him into battle, which he can then imbue with Haki to hit much harder than it would have otherwise. While this isn't a named or particularly strong weapon, its association with the Flame Emperor makes it a notable armament.
7 Katakuri Uses A Very Powerful Spear
Affiliation: Big Mom Pirates
As one of the best antagonists to have ever been introduced in One Piece, Charlotte Katakuri is a character that is almost unanimously loved by the fans. Not only is his character arc exceptional, but he is also an extremely honorable fighter who always wants to win fairly, even going so far as to injure himself to get rid of any advantage he may have had.
Although he is one of the few Conqueror's Haki users in the world and has some of the best Observation Haki we have ever seen through his Future Sight, Katakuri still fights with a massive spear called Mogura. This weapon greatly supplements his Special Paramecia powers, making him one of the greatest foes in the entire series.

More Games6 Kizaru Uses His Devil Fruit In Miraculous Ways
Affiliation: The Navy
In the entire One Piece franchise, Admiral Kizaru is the fastest character of them all due to his ownership of the legendary Pika Pika no Mi, which is a Logia Devil Fruit that gives him the ability to manipulate light itself. Although Kizaru most commonly uses it to move impossibly fast or to fire off beam attacks, it has another interesting usage.
By hardening the light that he creates, Kizaru can mold it into a massive sword made purely of light that is incredibly powerful. Although he isn't a particularly strong swordsman, his unique kind of sword was seen to clash equally against Rayleigh's blade, which is quite the feat since Rayleigh is a Haki master and a legend of the One Piece world.
5 Yamato Is One Of The Few Users Of Conqueror's Haki
Affiliation: Wano
As the child of the legendary pirate Kaido, it comes as no surprise that Yamato's strength is absolutely insane. Though it mostly comes from Yamato's use of the Okuchi no Makami Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, the hero's mastery of Haki and use of the Kanabo make Yamato one of the strongest allies that Luffy has ever had.
The best showcase of Yamato's incredible strength with the massive weapon came in the Wano arc, when she fought her father in a heated and highly destructive fight. Owing to her natural strength and mastery of various Haki forms, Yamato's Kanabo clashed evenly with Kaido's, to the point where the World's Strongest Creature took some serious damage against her.
4 Scopper Gaban Is A Legend Of The Old Era
Affiliation: Roger Pirates
It is said that the Pirate King is meant to have two wings that will make him fit this role. Although Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are set to inherit this role in the future, the blueprint was set by the Monster Trio of the Roger Pirates. The Left Wing of the Pirate King was Scopper Gaban, who remains one of One Piece's strongest characters.
In his youth, Scopper's strength was immense, and he always fought the toughest enemies with his twin axes that he imbued with Haki. Owing to his mastery of all Haki types, especially Conqueror's Haki, Scopper's strength was enough to make even Imu bleed in the Elbaf arc, despite Scopper being far past his prime when it happened.
3 Kaido's Strength Was Famous Across The World
Affiliation: Beast Pirates
In the eyes of many fans, Kaido remains the strongest character whom Luffy has ever faced 1-on-1, and their various battles during the Wano arc can attest to his strength. Not only did Kaido defeat Luffy multiple times, but he did so by mainly focusing on his innate strength and Haki usage, showing Luffy that he still had a long way to go.
With his huge Kanabo known as Hassaikai, Kaido became one of the most powerful characters that the world has ever seen. During the Onigashima Raid, he took on Yamato, the Red Scabbards, the Worst Generation, and Luffy multiple times, all without stopping to rest or recuperate. Because of this, many believe that he exists at Roger and Xebec's level when in his prime.
2 Loki Fights With A Weapon From The Void Century
Affiliation: Elbaf
One of the best characters who have joined the One Piece cast is Prince Loki of Elbaf, whose strength truly knows no bounds. From his first proper appearance, Loki was spoken of as being on an entirely different plane of strength, since he owned the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaf, which was later revealed to be the Mythical Zoan Nidhogg fruit.
Aside from the unparalleled strength of this Devil Fruit, Loki is also perhaps the most naturally talented Haki user in history, since he used Advanced Conqueror's Haki the very first time he awakened the power. He wields Ragnir, a mythical weapon of Elbaf's God of War that only the strongest and most worthy figures can wield. Ragnir has existed since presumably even before the Void Century and has the power to summon lightning and blizzards, arguably making it the strongest weapon in One Piece.
1 Whitebeard Had The Power To Destroy The World
Affiliation: Whitebeard Pirates
A man who is spoken of within the same breath as Roger himself, Whitebeard was arguably the most powerful figure in the old era of the world. Of course, most of his legendary strength is attributed to his world ending Gura Gura no Mi Devil Fruit, which has the power to summon tremors that are capable of destroying the entire planet if the user chooses.
However, on top of this, Whitebeard is also one of the only users of Advanced Conqueror's Haki in existence, which he uses in congruence with his Supreme Grade weapon, Murakumogiri. This weapon is a Naginata, and it was not only shown to utilize Whitebeard's Haki, but could also be imbued with the tremors themselves. Because of this, Whitebeard is the strongest non-sword weapon user in One Piece.
