Riot Games Celebrates First Year of Riftbound, Announces Two New Sets

As part of their celebration of the League of Legends TCG reaching its first year, the studio has announced new products alongside some details on their two upcoming sets, titled Legacy and The Reckoning.Riot Games and The First Year of RiftboundIn a series of blog posts, Riot Games spoke openly about the current state of Riftbound. One post addressed a series of FAQs regarding their approach to banning certain cards, repurposing artwork from their Legends of Runeterra game, and general inquiries about the game's ongoing support.The second post illustrated a rough roadmap of products coming to Riftbound in the near future.

First is a new product called Secret Garden. Similar to Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair drops, Secret Garden includes alternate artwork of certain cards from the Unleashed set. Secret Garden will include three Unleashed boosters, alt art cards of Ivern, Green Father, Lillia, Bashful Bloom, and Ultrasoft Poro, two sleeve packs, two full art postcards, and five alt-art double-sided tokens. Secret Garden will be available at select Riftbound events and will be sold at an MSRP of $70.If you're looking to get someone into Riftbound, another product celebrating the game's first year is the aptly titled Gift of the Rift box coming this December.

It contains 16 booster packs: 3 from Origins, 3 from Spiritforged, 3 from Unleashed, 3 from Vendetta, and 4 from Radiance. The box also contains 36 foil rune cards, 100 promo sleeves, an alt art promo card of Champion Akali. Lastly, the box doubles as a storage box, capable of holding 2,000 cards.The end of this roadmap gave some new details RIftbound's sixth and seventh upcoming sets. Legacy, as the name implies, will showcase not just various Champions but the various regions they hail from, introducing new dynamic gameplay mechanics. The regions cited include Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover and Zaun (as featured in the Netflix series, Arcane) Frejlord, and Bilgewater.Notably, booster contents in Riftbound Legacy will be changed slightly to make the game more draft-friendly.

Key details

Going forward, all boosters will contain six Common cards instead of seven. That card will be replaced with either a Legend card or a Battlefield card Otherwise, the products released for this set align with prior releases. The set will showcase 12 champions, including Lux, Heimerdinger, Ashe, Garen, Illaoi, Karma, Tryndamere, and Vladimir. The set's release will include Boosters and four precon Champion decks featuring Tryndamere, Ashe, Lux, and Garen. Pre-Rift kits, and a Vault Bundle.Riftbound Legacy's Pre-Rift will take place between January 22-28, 2027 followed by its official release date of January 29, 2027.Set number seven, The Reckoning is comparatively light on details.

The set will feature League of Legends' more gigantic champions such as Aurelion Sol and Cho'Gath, and that two of the precon Champion decks will feature Shyvana and Vayne.
